In the heart of the beautiful town of Saumur, under the trees, this is a fab place to eat, drink and be merry ! The food is typical French, well cooked, and the atmosphere buzzing, not just with tourists, but locals too, which is always a good sign.
They serve Apero's (tapas) until about 7.00pm which are great with a glass of local wine. A great place to have coffee on market day (Saturday) and people watch!!
The welcoming owners and staff are brimming with French style!
This is one not to be missed if you enjoy good French cuisine in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Although they do have a childrens menu, this is a place for a romantic meal for two, or with friends and family. Prices are very reasonable.
With the Chef and Front of House as husband and wife, care and quality of food are amongst the best in the area! Highly recommended to those who love food!
Ask for the menu in English is you find French difficult !
A nice place for a special occasion. Not good for children! Which means it's great for adults! In warmer months, its great to sit in the gardens and eat at lunchtime or evenings, and the inside is beautiful too, very classy place.
Food is wonderful, and they have a wine list to die for! Great value at lunchtime with a 3 course menu at 26 euro's!
Saumur's Michelin Star restaurant. The price reflects this, but so does the food ! Exactly what you'd expect from this standard of restaurant. The restaurant is tucked away in a side street near to the indoor riding schools, at the top of rue St Nicholas.
A view upwards of the castle, another on the grounds of the hotel and a vaulted cellar for receptions and cocktails. With elegant tables, the subtle decor, in a case of tufa and antique furniture.
Another family run classic in the centre of Saumur. Food and service are presented in a typically french way, and a great meal is the result!
Turquant is well worth a visit, situated in the Troglodyte area along the river just outside Saumur.
The menu here is very varied and it changes on a regular basis. Food is excellent, and well presented. The only down side to this beautiful little restaurant is the chairs ... They are so uncomfortable!!
Only 10 mins drive away, excellent food. Don't be put off by the rather unattractive modern building. Inside its lovely, and the terrace is very pretty in summer. One of the most consistently good restaurants for quality food. Being so close to the Gites means many guests become regulars!
In the historic Place St Pierre, you will find the best Steak House in town ! Specializing in steaks , they really do know their stuff ! It's a modern environment, where the food and drink are paramount, even down to the specialist tea's and coffee to end a perfect meal.
